Korean Odessy December 24, 2009

We found a rental house the week we arrived and were scheduled to be out of the hotel and into the rental house on December 28.  Our household goods were not scheduled to arrive until February 6, 2010, so the government would be loaning us some furniture.  We were also able to borrow some dishes, kitchen utensils, cookware, toaster, etc.  Unfortunately, also because our household goods had not yet arrived, we had to purchase some household items that we had an ample supply of in our shipment of household goods.  Blankets, Sheets, Towels, Washcloths, dish cloths, dish brushes, brooms, mops, etc.  Our car had also not yet arrived, so we would be moving our belongings by taxi.  We didn't have a large number of items to move, just the items we brought on plane, the borrowed kitchen items, and the new household goods we had to purchase because our shipment had not yet arrived.

On Christmas Eve, December 24th, we made one or two trips by taxi to the house.  Michael and I were both a bit down because we were away from our daughter and my mom.  We weren't exchanging gifts with each other and we had already exchanged gifts with relatives prior to leaving for Korea.  We didn't have much to do on Christmas eve, so we took a trip to AK Plaza in Pyeongtaek.   We noticed some people setting up for a concert in the plaza in front of the store and decided to stay at the store until the concert.  The concert put on by a local Korean church.

Two of the first pictures were taken from one of the upper floors of AK Plaza in Pyeongtaek.  First to perform was a band of Korean women in traditional costume playing Korean drums.

The concert helped it feel a little bit more like Christmas.

Christmas day, we made another taxi trip to the rental house.
